2008 Gewürztraminer Best in Show! This uncommon Virginia wine has become a staff favorite over the last few vintages and has recently gained a similar reception outside of the winery - as evidenced by its recent Best in Show in the Mid-Atlantic Southeastern Wine Competition. Although our 2008 vintage is not quite ready for release, we do have the similar 2007 vintage available for tasting and purchase. Fashioned in an Alsation style, this beautiful wine has vibrant notes of orange and lychee, with an elegant palate filled with fruit and notes of cardamom and cloves that will pair wonderfully with your holiday meals. The Gewürztraminer will be featured on our tasting list throughout the month of December so be sure to stop by to taste and enjoy fantastic discounts. *The 2007 Gewürztraminer is 0.8%R.S. - if you prefer a drier wine, the Viognier is an excellent alternative. |

NV Breakheart RedFor the red wine fans, your pick for the holidays should contain some of the same qualities as a white wine: lighter in body, lower tannins, and fruit-forward - perhaps with hints of spice throughout the palate and finish... just like the Breakheart Red! A lovely blend of several Bordeaux grapes, this budget-friendly wine ($9.99) is a great complement to any meal and is the perfect gift for both red and white wine drinkers. Young and fresh, the Breakheart has become one of our most popular crown-pleasers over the years. A slightly heavier alternative to the Breakheart would be the 2007 Cabernet Franc, another one of our award-winning wines. Lovely aromas of violet and blackberry pave the way for a medium-weight palate filled with luscious fruit and smoky vanilla notes. Only a few cases of the very popular '07 Cab Franc remaining, so be sure to pick yours up today. |
